The children of Mamaroneck Library's Roots & Shoots,
Jane Goodall's environmental group, were treated to a sneak
peek at the New Mamaroneck Library's "Green" construction plan. George
Schieferdecker of BKSK Architects, presented the group with a special
slide show and explanation of how Green Roofs help the community both
ecologically and economically. Mr. Schieferedecker showed the group
examples of the types of low or non-maintenance plants that are used
in constructing such an environmentally friendly project. The New
Mamaroneck Library is expected to receive a Silver LEED rating if not
higher when the renovation project is completed.
