Upcoming Events at the Mamaroneck Public Library

E-Cycle at the Mamaroneck Library

Green recycle logo

Saturday, May 19th • 10:00am-2:00pm

In the Emelin Theatre Parking Lot

Green Solutions Group Ltd. will be on hand to collect and recycle your unwanted electronic waste products.

What is Electronic Waste? E-waste can encompass a variety of equipment including, but not limited to computers, CRTs, wireless telephones, electronic keyboards, mice, printers, monitors, portable digital music players, video cassette recorders, DVD players, Blu-ray disc players, digital video recorders, digital converter boxes, cable or satellite receivers, electronic game consoles, PDAs, facsimile machines, and photocopiers, etc.

Why is it important to E-cycle? Much of this used electronic equipment contains hazardous elements and compounds, including lead, mercury, and cadmium, which can be toxic if released into the environment. Therefore, it is important that used electronic equipment is managed properly, which in some cases means management as a hazardous waste. All hard drives will be destroyed at our local facility insuring the security of any data left on drives is inaccessible as well.

Will you accept other small appliances? Yes, Green Solutions will take "other" stuff to a metal recycling facility as well.

*Please Note: We Cannot Accept Televisions For E-Cycling

E-Readers Urgently Needed

In celebration of the upcoming National Library Week (April 8-14), the Mamaroneck Public Library is embarking on a project to increase digital literacy in our community and is looking for donations of e-reader devices. If you have an extra e-reader such as a Kindle, ipad, Nook, or Sony reader, the Library would love to utilize it to demonstrate how users can download free e-books from our rapidly growing collection of approximately 13,500 e-books! All e-reader devices donated to the Library are tax deductible. Please contact Library Director Susan Riley at sriley@wlsmail.org or at 698-1250, extension 8 if you are able to help with this vital initiative by donating an e-reader or by volunteering to teach library patrons how to download e-books.

Shelter Cats: a Photography Exhibit by Elisabeth Pollaert Smith

Shelter Cats

Art Gallery

May 7th - May 28th

The purpose of this exhibit is to draw attention to the many beautiful, playful and generally adorable cats that are available for adoption at animal shelters. These photographs were taken at the New Rochelle Humane Society. Some of the cats have since been adopted, and some are still there, waiting for "their person" to walk in the door. Some have been waiting a very long time.

More information about this and other upcoming art exhibits can be found on our art gallery page.
