Registration is required as space is very limited. Sign-up at the
Reference desk or call (914) 630-5888.
Please arrive at 10am to sign in. There will be a 30 minute lunch
break and we suggest you bring your lunch with you.

Refresh your skills with the AARP SMART DRIVER™ COURSE!

You will learn:

  • Defensive Driving Techniques
  • Proven Safety Strategies
  • New Traffic Laws and rules of the road

Plus, there are no tests to pass. You simply sign up and learn.
Upon completion you can save 10% on your car insurance and
remove up to 4 points from your license.*

AARP charges $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
Payment is accepted the day of the class only. Checks should be
made out to AARP. All payment transactions will be handled directly
by AARP. Course materials  are provided. Please bring your own lunch and a pen.

AARP Driver Safety is the nation’s first and largest driver safety course designed specifically for drivers age 50+. However, it can be taken by licensed drivers of all ages, and there are no tests. Course participants may be eligible to receive a state-mandated, multi-year discount on their auto insurance premium.

*Upon completing this course, and if you are the principal operator of a motor vehicle, you will receive a 10% reduction in the base rate of your automobile liability and collision insurance premiums each year for three years. You may be eligible to reduce as many as four points on your driving record. Point reduction can only be credited once every 18 months, and does not affection actions mandated by statute or revocations already in place. Other restrictions apply. Consult your agent for details.

You may qualify for:

  • Essential Plan
  • Medicaid and Child Health Plus (CHP)
  • Qualified Health Plan (QHP)
  • Health coverage for your employees if you own/operate a small business

Things you should know when applying for health insurance:

  • Social Security numbers (or document numbers for legal immigrants)
  • Birth dates
  • Employer and income information for each person applying for insurance
  • Policy numbers for any current health insurance

Life got you stressed? Unwind at the Library. Turn off your phone, unplug your computer. Join us to experience the latest trend in relaxation: Adult coloring! Coloring can have a calming effect on the adult mind and help promote overall wellness — and it’s fun! Join us for an afternoon of music, refreshments, and relaxation. Drop in anytime between 4 and 6:30pm. Coloring sheets and tools will be provided.
